Night Moves

In response to the anonymous comments regarding my post about the NBC late-night shake-up, I have this to say:

My "lack of understanding" comes from one Jay Leno himself, who was at his peak in 2004 when he announced that he would vacate his desk at "The Tonight Show" in 2009 and pass the torch to Conan O'Brien.

"In 2009, I'll be 59 years old and will have had this dream job for 17 years," Leno said at the time. "When I signed my new contract, I felt that the timing was right to plan for my successor, and there is no one more qualified than Conan. Plus, I promised [my wife] Mavis I would take her out for dinner before I turned 60."

I also said he came to regret that decision to retire, which led to the creation of his 10 p.m. that completely undermined O'Brien's taking over of "The Tonight Show."

No surprise that it's the anonymous ones who -- once again -- have no idea what they're talking about. (Would YOU want everyone to know who you were if you were completely stupid?)

Mr. Walsh, perhaps some of us "anonymous" readers are reacting to your seemingly endless judgmental and condescending tone, directed at everyone and everything, as opposed to a specific post about Jay Leno or anything else. Senators, Congressmen, the President, entertainers, people on the street - none are exempt from your (dare I suggest) holier-than-thou attitude (so Luke Wilson has put on a few pounds. May I suggest that while you don't appear overweight, you are no Brad Pitt yourself? At least Mr. Wilson is working). I love reading some of your material. Perhaps as you get older you will realize that we should work on ourselves, and save the self-righteousness for Elizabeth Hassel-whatever on The View.

You are so awesome Kenneth! I just spit up my coffee reading your response to the "anonymous" posters. I get them as well and boy can they be so brave behind anonymity.

I agree with you 100% on the post as well. Peace!

Ha Ha Ha! How does anyone even think he's amusing anymore anyway?

To the Anonymous poster (yet again) (at 8:08 AM)... no one is forcing you to read Kenneth's blog. So if you don't like his "judgmental and condescending" tone, nothing is stopping you from deleting your bookmark. Myself, being of the Jewish persuasion, live my life being judgmental and condescending. I wouldn't have it any other way ;-)

Keep up the good work, Ken... and belated Happy New Year!

I don't buy this concoction that Leno was forced to do something by NBC. How is the guy with the #1 show 'forced' to do anything? I do think Conan needs to be Conan, he seems confined; I was dubious about this move from the beginning. Oh well, I live in the neighborhood where David Letterman grew up, in Broadripple/Indianapolis, and I'm a Letterman viewer. The fate of NBC Latenight? Meh.
