Celestia Seasonings

Alex Witchel has a riveting piece on Anne Heche in the Times Sunday Magazine. I've never been a fan of the actress -- I'm guessing mainly because she's never been in anything I would be apt to like, although so far I find her to be one of the weaker parts of the wonderful new HBO show "Hung." But I never believed for a minute she didn't love Ellen DeGeneres, or that she was using the comedian to advance her career. (Who would be naive enough to think being gay in Hollywood is GOOD for a leading actress? Oddly enough, Heche was naive enough to not think it would be REALLY BAD.) However, I was 100 percent convinced that she was a "fake" lesbian, and although you will come away realizing just how sincere her love for Ellen was, the vile details of her sexually-abusive slash closeted homosexual father (he gave her herpes when she was a little girl) and her gay-hating mother (who has never admitted any abuse took place) shed enormous light on Heche's erratic behavior over the years, and fully support her initial claim that some loves completely defy labels.
