GOP Chairman Michael Steele said over the weekend that
Republicans can reach a broader base by recasting gay marriage as an issue that could dent pocketbooks as small businesses spend more on health care and other benefits for same-sex spouses. Steele may have a point, but why stop there, Repubs? Why not ban
all marriages. That way small businesses won't have to shell out money for "health care and other benefits" of
any spouses. Never mind the fact that
a new study says the 12,000-plus same-sex marriages performed in Massachusetts since 2004 have pumped more than $111 million into the state's economy, undoubtedly to many of the state's small florists, caterers, clothiers and hotels.

Great post, Kenneth!
I can think of all sorts of things to do away with if that's the way it's gonna be.
