Student-Counsel President

Speaking of my old high school, here's a pep rally I wouldn't mind attending. Would you believe one President Barack Obama is slated to speak there tomorrow morning?!

My former employer reports: President Barack Obama will make a stop Wednesday morning at Mesa's Dobson High School, where he is expected to roll out a plan to direct at least $50 billion from the financial bailout package passed last fall to stem home foreclosures. Between 300 and 400 tickets will be available to the public for free on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning at 10 a.m. Monday at the school's main entrance, 1501 W. Guadalupe Road, White House and school officials said Sunday. Each person will only be allowed one ticket.

I'm going home the first week of April. Makes me wish I were there now -- Go, Mustangs! -- although it's kind of hard to believe that when he picked my former hometown as a national symbol of the economic crisis it wasn't Detroit. Phoenix -- and its sprawling suburbs -- is a real estate boom town gone bust like few others ...
