Another Gay Bookstore Flames Out

More sad news from the world of gay bookstores. Just two weeks after the famed Oscar Wilde Bookstore in New York's West Village announced its closing comes news that A Different Light in West Hollywood is going dark, too. Details HERE.

Can Washington's Lamba Rising be far behind?

Not surprising - as the number of people reading books is decreasing, the number of gay people reading books should also be decreasing...

the gay demographic is changing. gay ghettos are not as important, and one can buy gay stuff online.

still, visiting Giovanni's Room in Philadelphia is still a non-guilty pleasure. I hope it survives.

I'm so up set with this news of A Different Light Bookstore closing their doors. Billy & the entire staff of ADLB has been such great supporters of local gay authors. This is a huge blow to the West Hollywood community.

I hate to hear that. Unfortunately that is what happens, when people stop spending. Then people are all sad and it's too late.

I've been saddened by some local businesses closing and feel bad and can't help but wonder, if only I had shopped there more, would it have remained open?

I hope Lambda Rising can stay afloat! I bought several books there a few years back and love that store.
