Having grown up there, I can't help but find gay tourism ads for Phoenix to be, well, silly. But I will say this one captures the exact spirit of one of the city's most popular bars in the 1980s, good old Preston's on East Thomas Road. The patio was perfect for getting away from someone you were avoiding, and the Sizzler next door was pretty great, too.
Never "got" Derek Jeter (even he said he's the love child of The Rock and a Muppet), but something about him in shirtsleeves works for me, as does the fact that they're running this in a gay mag; the unfortunate GEICO man stole my look from the Village Racquet Club days, I'm afraid ...This week's eye-catching ads
