Debbie Harry Wigs Out!

How did the self-proclaimed biggest Blondie fan in the world miss this priceless clip for "English Boys," arguably the high point of 1982's highly uneven "The Hunter"? (Apparently Chrysalis had test pressed it as a potential single but then opted for "War Child" instead.) Note that a post-"Koo Koo" brown-haired Debbie has her "Island of Lost Souls" wig on again and that Frank Infante was already history. And then 10 years later, a solo Deb donned an even funner blond wig for a raucous cover of Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" (from an Australian film soundtrack), another clip I only discovered this week. (Would someone please remind me how we lived before YouTube?!!!)

Seeing these old videos is enough to make me wish I'd bid on some of the Blondie stuff last week at Christie's Punk/Rock auction, like this kickass Tracks Across America satin tour jacket!

"English Boys" is such a limp dishrag of a song to even CONSIDER for a single...I do like the chorus a lot, but c'mon...what were they thinking? If a SUPERB, hot track like "War Child" couldn't connect, I think it was doomed regardless.
