Page 1 Consider (10/10)

  • Wouldn't Change a Thing: A computer model can come up with the ideal you, but you may prefer your “before” image. The photograph on the right was doctored by the "beautification engine" of a new computer program that uses a mathematical formula to alter the original form into a theoretically more attractive version. The before and after shots of the actor James Franco were almost indistinguishable, suggesting his classically handsome face is already pretty perfect. (NYT)

  • 'Office' Mates? American adaptations of foreign series — including “Eleventh Hour,” “Kath & Kim” and “Life on Mars” -- are prevalent this season, but not all copycat shows are equally well made. (NYT)

  • Fry It Up in a Pan: David thinks real women DON'T hunt moose, and I tend to agree. (Pretty On the Inside)

  • Imported Testosterone: Is America outsourcing its leading-man machismo? (NYP)

  • Sour Note: New York's famed Tin Pan Alley, where songwriting legends Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer all once worked, is getting dangerously close to being bulldozed to make way for a new -- you guessed it -- high rise. From the 1890s to the 1950s, Tin Pan Alley was the place where music publishers and songwriters were concentrated. "This makes me sick," one longtime resident said. "This whole neighborhood has lost its uniqueness. It's just another symbol of what New York was and what it will no longer be." (NYP)

  • Unhappy Ending: My former employer PR Newswire was famous for fucking people over, but this just proves what a bunch of jerkoffs they are. (Gawker)

  • Not Saying Grace: Debra Messing is back in prime time with "The Starter Wife," a new show on the USA Network that evolved out of a successful mini-series. I haven't seen it yet (anyone know if I should?), but the fact that Messing thinks she's so "ethnic" looking almost seems to play into the show's "Hollywood is full of shallow people" theme. (NYT)

  • 'Pastor, I Am Gay': Here's the real book Sarah Palin wanted to ban (whatever happened to her "tolerance" for gay people -- you know, like her BFF? (365Gay)

  • Kerry-ed Away: Because you can never get enough shirtless Lucas Kerry. (Shirtless Perfection)

  • High School U-S-(G)A(Y): A proposed high school for LGBT students has gained the support of Chicago Public Schools CEO Arne Duncan. Duncan said Wednesday he will recommend that the school board approve plans for the school. "If you look at national studies, you see gay and lesbian students with high dropout rates ... studies show they are disproportionately homeless," the Chicago Tribune reported Duncan as saying. "I think there is a niche there we need to fill." (365Gay)

  • Apocalypse Now? More than a decade after its conception, Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" will finally see the light of day before year's end, sources close to the situation told Billboard. Somewhere Brian Wilson has a big "Smile" on his face. (Reuters)
