Barack Obama's acceptance speech last night in Denver was one for the ages, but you don't need me to tell you that. But what the hell was up with that song at the end, "Only in America" by Brooks & Dunn?(!!!!!) It was so ridiculously out of place that it transcended being contrived and transparent (was it irony?). Let's be honest here: We all know there was only one song that should have come on at the epic closing moment, but I guess they couldn't get the rights to "Smooth Operator." You know how persnickety that Sade can be.

I love your blog and OBAMA, so reading your shout out to Sade tonight made me bring out my "Lovers Live" DVD for the first time in years! And I gotta tell ya, I work in Nashville, and Brooks & Dunn was not the right choice for Barack tonight. Oh well, I'm still voting for him. HA HA.
That show last night will be shown by future generations as an example of how a charismatic leader can lead a nation astray (just like Nuremburg). I will NOT be voting for Obama (callow fits him far too well), Hill will get my vote as a write-in! Cheers, GP
HA! You think the song choice was transparent? What about McCain picking a woman—ANY woman—as his veep! I so called that back on July 1. Bwa-haha, the election just got a lot less close. He picks this much-less-experienced-than-Obama running mate at age 72 with his cancer history? Sure, she had a Down's Syndrome baby on purpose and loves her guns, but Christ, the Jesse Ventura vote can only take you so far. Like...to Alaska!
I LOVED Obama's speech. I thought the country song was strange, followed by the even stranger movie score sounding music. They should have kept the music pumping!
And I so love me some Sade. She needs to follow up Lovers Rock with another CD.
I dunno. His speech just didn't do it for me. Both Hillary and Bill made it a crystal clear point that they were for gay rights in their speeches. Obama made a begrudging line (on which he faltered) about allowing gays to visit loved ones in the hospital. What's wrong with saying we deserve the same rights as anyone else in this country?
Is it the misogynist black culture? I dunno, too much talk of "families" and what kids deserve. Seems more exclusive than inclusive.
He has a long way to go.
