Page 1 Consider (06/02)

  • Blame It On the (Paper) Moon: Academy Award-winning actress Tatum O'Neal, who chronicled her "recovery" from drug addiction in a 2004 memoir, was busted Sunday for buying crack on Manhattan's Lower East Side. A stunned O'Neal initially told the police she was "doing research for a part."(!) When cops searched her and found two bags of drugs -- one with crack, one with regular cocaine -- and an unused crack pipe, she changed her story saying it was her first slip in ages and that the cops had "saved" her. She then asked if they would just let her go. (Apparently they would not.) A very sad story. Doesn't she have an assistant who can do this for her? (NYDN)

  • Let's Talk About 'Sex': The film version of "Sex and the City" swept the box office over the weekend, bringing in a whopping $55.7 million since opening with midnight shows on Thursday. Michael and I saw it on Friday and I have to say that it really does raise the question, is subpar sex better than no sex at all? Sure, it was great to see the old gang together again. And the scenes that were reminiscent of the series were an absolute treat. (I never tire of Samantha's quips and who doesn't like to hang out with old friends?) But ultimately I really felt Michael Patrick King damaged the brand -- which will undoubtedly live on with that kind of money involved -- with that weak story. I won't give anything away, but I truly felt like Carrie's storyline set the women's movement back about 40 years. (I thought this had all finally been resolved in the series finale, hadn't it?) It's a shame that a show that never jumped the shark would go out of its way to do so on the big screen. And one other thing: why is Jennifer Hudson the only person in the cast with an Academy Award yet she can't act her way out of a paper (Louis Vuitton) bag? (NYT)

  • Blue Blooded Hotties: Forbes ranks the "20 Hottest Young Royals" in the world. The royals rule, of course, but Prince William over Hot Harry? How '90s! (CNN)

  • Wake (Up) Ruling: What, suddenly Wake County, North Carolina, has heard of the Supreme Court ruling that decriminalizes sodomy? Way to go, guys! (News&Observer)

  • She Drove All Night: Cyndi Lauper took a break from rehearsals on Friday up in Boston for her True Colors Tour to meet with some of this year’s top fundraisers for yesterday's 23rd Annual AIDS Walk Boston. Did anyone make it to the show up there or Jones Beach this weekend? I've got Cyndi's new album and cannot say enough good things about it (look for my review later in the week). (TrueColors)

  • LGBT Families Day: Read submissions from on what makes a family -- or submit your own. (Mombian)

  • The Usual Suspects: The results of AfterElton's Hot 100 are in! (AfterElton)

  • RIP: Yves Saint Laurent. (WP)

82 guys on the list are straight or supposedly straight. SELF-HATRED MUCH? Gay people value heterosexuality OVER homosexuality. It's sick. After hundreds of millions of gay people throughout history were forced to live by straight people's demands or else gay people should be disgusted by those overlords instead of worshipping them. Gross. Michael Jensen and Brian Juergens said they would not talk about MIKA because he's in the closet and that's not supporting the gay "community." Yet they post articles about straight people who have done zero for gay people every day. Shameless and repulsive. Stop perpetuating self-hatred.

I'm proud that 4 out of the top 5 are gay but that is little consolation.
