What Is Wrong With People?

So I go to Starbucks to read the paper after lunch just like I do every other day and I sit my newspapers and my prescription eye glasses down at a place at the bar that has an open stool. My back is turned for all of 30 seconds while they prepare my coffee when I turn around and my glasses have vanished. Of course I thought I was imagining things and looked high and low -- asking the cashier if I had left them up there or if they'd been turned in by some misguided Good Samaritan. No such luck. The papers were right where I left them but my glasses were long gone. I wish you could see how upset I am. I know I can't.

Someone may have taken them mistakenly... Maybe they'll turn them in when they realize. You should call the Starbucks to see if anyone turns them in later.

Kenneth - I really enjoy your blog, I kinda feel like I "know" you. I'm sorry that you were a victim of some random foolishness. But don't let this make you bitter or angry - know that there are people (like me) who benefit everyday from you taking the time to share your thoughts and post hot pictures!

Maybe someone thought you looked hot and swiped them as a fetish item, like the way some guys try to swipe another's underwear at the gym.

Maybe someone needed them more than you did. I'll buy you another pair baby...no worries.

joey's comment kinda scares me...but who would steal glasses...I hope who ever did it get a big headache if they try to use them.

I'm sorry for your loss; curses to the felon, may they trip and fall.

Jayson said it well. Whoever stole them must have needed them more. At least they can't steal what's important, your fans!

hey, it's New York - that's the good and the bad news. At my Starbucks, in Hell's Kitchen, my friend took two steps away from his table to my table, so he could see something on my computer. In that mere moment, someone walked in off the street, picked up his cell phone which he had on the table and scooted back out the door. The guy sitting next to us, saw how it played out, alerted my friend, who then went running after the pathetic felon, and retrieved his phone. (The guy begged him not to call the police, which my friend stupidly agreed to.) I say again: it's NYC, extra caution needs to be taken, as theft happens in only a second. It feels awful to be ripped off, but getting another pair of reading glasses is easy -- and not worth being upset about.

The frames alone can cost hundreds of dollars. Its best to treat everything you value the same as you would your wallet. It is New York, your luck to still have your newspaper.

one more reason to avoid Starbucks

Sorry to hear that Ken. I think I saw you walking up Fifth yesterday, looking perturbed conversing on your cell. Now I may know why...

Kenneth, I'm sad to tell you that I will no longer be reading your blog. The guy what took your glasses has taken me too. Sorry.
