Saying Goodbye to Mikey P: Mike Piazza retired from baseball yesterday following a 16-season career in which he became one of the top-hitting catchers in history. Through the bad highlights and the mullet and every bizarro combination of facial hair he came up with in between, I always rooted for Mike. There was just something so transparently nice about him. Although he played for a number of teams, it's clear where his heart lies, too: "I have to say that my time with the Mets wouldn't have been the same without the greatest fans in the world. One of the hardest moments of my career, was walking off the field at Shea Stadium and saying goodbye.
