  • 5th Degree: Following a wave of bad publicity involving hostility toward gays, Scottsdale, Ariz., leaders met with LGBT leaders on Wednesday. Scottsdale mayor Mary Manross, Scottsdale police chief Alan Rodbell, and representatives from Equality Arizona, a local gay rights group, announced at a press conference that they will work together to make the city more gay-friendly for residents and tourists.   • BFF Potential: Did you hear about the former model who beat the crap out of a wouldbe mugger on First Avenue near 38th Street until cops finally pried her off? Silva Natividad, 54, credited the TV show "COPS" for spurring her to tackle Jonathan Burkes. "He grabbed my money and pushed me ... I was pissed. Angry doesn't begin to describe how I felt." Burkes finally broke free and ran across the street, but his incensed victim was hot on his tail, and she caught and tackled him again. She called 911 and told the dispatcher, "If you don't come and get this guy I'm going to kill him." You go, girl! (NYP)

  • I Do, Eh: Two former prime ministers to attend Canadian politician's gay wedding. (CP)

  • Bushwhacked: Can you imagine the inane conversations you'd have to have with George W. Bush if he were your father-in-law? This guy must be a real tool to want to be a part of this mess. (NYDN)

  • Marriott Means Business: Marriott International Inc. is adding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender-run businesses to its list of suppliers as part of its commitment to do business with diverse vendors. (BBJ)

  • Major Fumble: Sloppy drunk Joe Namath's 16-year-old daughter, Olivia, recently gave birth to a girl. The father is Edwin Baker, 19, who has been arrested three times in the past year on charges of possession of crystal methamphetamine, grand theft and burglary. (NYDN)

  • Dutch Treat: Amsterdam police are considering sending undercover officers posing as gays out onto the streets of the Dutch capital in an effort to fight the recent increase in violence against gays in the city. How hot. I wonder if there will be complimentary rolls in the sack to make it completely realistic too. (BGay)

  • Ryan White Redux: Following national outrage when an HIV-positive 2-year-old boy was denied use of a public pool, the Campaign to End AIDS is holding a "family reunion" to protest the RV park where the incident occurred. An expected 150 attendees plan to use the pool and showers at Wales West RV Park in Silver Hill, Ala., while wearing bathing suits that read "HIV Positive." (Advocate)

  • More Tragedy: Three rescue workers were killed and six others were injured last night when a seismic jolt caused a mine accident during an effort to reach six men who have been trapped at the Crandall Canyon Mine since Aug. 6, mining officials said. (NYT)
