David's Mrs. Wright

Game 5 of the N.L.C.S. was rained out in St. Louis last night, but the New York Post didn't shortchange us on David Wright news. It seems our dashing baseball prince hasn't let stardom go to his head, still favoring his mom's home-cooked meals to fancy restaurants and the the spare bedroom at his parents' home in Virginia to a compound in the Hamptons during the off season. In his spare time? He likes to staying up late to watch "SportsCenter" on ESPN and playing poker with his brothers.

"He's always been grounded," Elisa Wright said. "He's not an extravagant person and never will be. When he first signed with the Mets someone said that he would have signed for five bucks and a bag of chips -- and that's true." For now, the only Mrs. Wright remains his mom. "He's never mentioned that he's seeing anyone or serious with anyone," Elisa said. "Baseball always came first. If the girls can't handle that, it doesn't last." (Mmmmm.)
