Got to see Carlos Delgado and David Wright hit back-to-back homers to lead the Mets to a 4-3 win over the Yankees last night at Shea Stadium, giving them a 2-1 victory in the weekend's Subway Series. The second Wright hit the ball you knew a little piece of history was being written as he drove it over a tent behind the left-field bleachers and beyond the back wall that separates Shea Stadium from its parking lot. The ball bounced high off a concrete walkway and finally disappeared from view. The solo homer was estimated at 445 feet, one of the longest Wright has hit in his three-year career.
It was an unseasonably cold and windy night, but we had a fun time and Michael got me a snazzy Mets cap to help keep me warm (my cell-phone camera kind of let me down here, but you get the idea).
