Parricide: Rob Reiner and Wife Michele Reportedly Had Throats Slit by Their Son

Got home from the SAGE Toys Party tonight to the horrific news that Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, had been murdered in their Brentwood estate, which immediately had me thinking it had to have been done by someone close to the couple.

Moments later, People magazine exclusively reported that their very troubled son, Nick Reiner, was responsible for the crime:
Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed by their son, Nick, according to multiple sources who have spoken with family members. Police have not yet confirmed the account.

Police say Nick, 32, is alive and being questioned. No arrests have been made.

In a 2016 interview with People, Nick spoke about his years-long struggle with drug addiction, which began in his early teens and eventually left him living on the streets. He said he cycled in and out of rehab beginning around age 15, but as his addiction escalated, he drifted farther from home and spent significant stretches homeless in multiple states.

Nick told People that the chaotic period of addiction -- including nights and sometimes weeks sleeping outside -- later became the basis for the semi-autobiographical film "Being Charlie," which he co-wrote.

“Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in L.A. and being around my family," Nick told People at the time.
A tragic end of Greek proportions to a remarkable life.

Nick Reiner has been taken into custody and charged with murder following the deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.

Rob and Michele were killed in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, Dec. 14. Sources previously told People that their throats had been slit and they were found by daughter Romy. (Rob has another daughter, Tracy Reiner, whom he adopted when he was married to Penny Marshall, who had Tracy in 1964 during her brief marriage to Michael Henry.)

The LAPD said in a press release that Nick was being held on no bail. At an unrelated press conference Monday morning, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said Nick had been booked for murder.
Rob and Michele reportedly got into a “very loud argument” with son Nick the night before their murders.

The alleged dispute took place at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on Saturday, according to TMZ.

The outlet claimed Monday that Rob and Michele left the party post-confrontation, although it remains unclear when Nick departed the holiday bash.
