Weekend Tennis Roundup

Even putting politics aside, I've always been allergic to Florida. Between the mosquitoes and the weather, I never saw the appeal. And sure enough, the rain stopped what little professional tennis we have these days from being completed over the weekend in West Palm Beach, where Alison Riske, Amanda Anisimova, Danielle Collins and Ajla Tomljanovic were having their version of the (Re)Open that Reilly Opelka won not long ago.

Although the tennis was a bust, it did provide us with these two photos, one of Matteo Berrettini manspreading while talking to girlfriend Tomljanovic. And the other one of Collins with one of her team hunks. I almost don't care why the matches couldn't be continued Monday ... like anyone had anywhere to be?!

Novak Djokovic announced that he will host a Balkan event after finally returning home from Spain, where he apparently has been training hard during the lockdown. Dominic Thiem, Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev, Marin Cilic and Borna Coric are slated to take part in four events spread between Belgrade, Croatia's coastal resort Zadar and then Montenegro and Bosnia.

Reuters reports that all four events will feature eight players, competing in two pools of four on a round-robin basis with the winners of each pool advancing to the final. Djokovic said sets would be slashed to winning four games instead of six, with a total of 13 matches to be played over two days in each leg. Asked whether he considered inviting longtime rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to the event, Djokovic said: "Quite frankly, inviting Federer didn't cross my mind because... he is still nursing a knee injury. "As for Nadal, I have no problem giving him a call but I wouldn't expect him to come over."

Around the net ...

Reilly Opelka and Tommy Paul have been very busy shooting hoops, playing shirtless table tennis and horsing around the pool with a friend in HIS BOXER BRIEFS.
