Speech Impediment

Damning stuff ... and how have I never heard of a movie called “The Return of the King”? I only remember “The King’s Speech."

Other takeaway: There have been quite a few shitty "best" pictures.

The Return of the King is the third part of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy. (It's also the title of the third volume in the original Tolkien book set.)

"The Return of the King" was the third "Lord of the Rings" movie, which won some Oscars as a proxy for the whole series.

I am sure you’re joking, ! One is Tolkien, the other George, the sixth.

Return of the King is the second film in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Thanks. Never heard of it. Guess you learn something new every day!

The Return of the King is the first film of a trilogy, and The King's Speech is the second. The third, The Return of the King's Speech is generally considered the best.

I've heard rumors that Timothée Chalamet's next project will revive the franchise with a movie called The King's Peach, but my sources are unreliable.

Hope this helps.

Bill Carter for the win!

LOL Bill- a lot of classic films were never even nominated for the Oscar and let us not forget how "Brokeback Mountain" lost to the mediocre "Crash". This year "Call Me By Your Name " should have one but Hollywood is only liberal when it comes to dancing gays.

This graphic would be useful if it would show several years of nominees and demonstrate that the winner had the most male speech. This list is not useful since it only shows the ratio of male to female talking in the movie that won. The data, as constituted, proves nothing save that men talked more than women in the movies that won. It does not prove that the winner of the Best Picture Oscar always had the highest number of minutes of male speech.

I can't remember who said it or when, but a movie business type said "The only reason women are in most movies are so they can play girlfriends or wives so that we don't think the main characters are gay".
