Paste Monthly Ranks the 50 Best New Wave Albums


Thrilled "I Want Candy" (Bow Wow Wow), "Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful?" (The Waitresses) and "All Over the Place" (Bangles) got some overdue recognition. And always great to see "Parallel Lines" (Blondie), "Pretenders" (eponymous) and "Beauty and the Beat" (Go-Go's) cited, even if they picked the wrong Depeche Mode album, think too highly of The Cars and ignored Romeo Void. I reckoned they don't consider R.E.M. to be new wave, although they're as "new wave" as a third of the artists on this list, but then realized they were on the site's previous list called the 50 Best Post-Punk Albums HERE.
