Friendship Killer: I nearly lost three friends over the weekend after talking them into seeing "Murder in Fashion," a big-screen reimagining of Andrew Cunanan's murderous rampage back in 1997. (They all demanded full refunds -- from me.) While it truly is horrendous -- sort of like a poorly acted "Showgirls," with blood in place of champagne -- it's nice to see I'm not the only who was (kinda) able to appreciate its (let's hope intentional) camp value. (I'll bet Nomi could have taken him.) Read THIS.
Transitions: An interesting and at times moving article in today's Times about the importance a legal name change makes in the lives of transgender people, with courts in Manhattan at the forefront of making them happen. (NYT)

Cool Your Jets: I know real New York Jets fans were pretty crushed to see their improbable run toward the Super Bowl come to an end, losing 30-17 to the Colts in the AFC championship game. But for me, the real loss was Mark Sanchez's post-game decision to shave his "lucky" beard. (AP)
My Two Moms: “It doesn’t bother me to tell kids my parents are gay. It does bother me to say they aren’t married. It makes me feel that our family is less than their family.” That's what Kasey Nicholson-McFadden told the New Jersey State House in Trenton last month, in the buildup to the state Senate's Jan. 7 vote on marriage equality. Its defeat left him "devastated." (NYT)
Flesh(tone) for Fantasy: I see London, I see France -- but do I see Venus Williams' underpants? (NYDN)
Break in Case: The man accused of brutally stabbing a 41-year-old event planner in his Hell's Kitchen apartment was arrested Saturday in Vermont, authorities said. Justin Waller, 31, was collared in Manchester by local and NYPD detectives after they tracked him down through his use of John Lea's credit cards, police said. (NYDN)
RE: Break in Case; I love that "GAY" is still a titillating word for headlines. If you see "gay" in a headline it is so scandalous that you MUST read the story! The headline reads that he stabbed his GAY lover. Seeing as how they're both guys, one would think that, yes, they are gay. It'd be much more exciting if the headline read "Man kills his STRAIGHT- acting male lover"?
