Pete Sampras showed off his "honoree plate" -- and his
guns -- at the L.A. Tennis Open on Monday, where he and Marat Safin played a rematch of their 2000 U.S. Open final. The then-20-year-old Russian won that one in straight sets and came out on top again, this time defeating the American 6-4, 3-6 (10-6). The so-called "Millennium Challenge" was the kickoff of the ATP event being played at UCLA, the second stop of the U.S. Open Series.
