Song of the Day: 'I Decided' (live) by Solange Knowles

Beyonce the person is likable enough, but I've never understood the appeal of her music -- aka what she's supposed to be famous for. I can admit that even someone as untalented as Britney Spears has a good song or two, but Queen B's music somehow manages to be not soulful enough to be good R&B and not catchy enough to be good pop. The closest she ever came was "Crazy in Love," but all of its wonderful suspense and build-up never somehow never pays off, like if "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" had been recorded minus the pinnacle. But people keep saying her kickass younger sister is the real deal, although I've yet to delve in. The only song I know is this one, and while it may not reinvent the wheel, it's one of the sweetest pop confections since Diana Ross' "Chain Reaction" came out three decades. Where do I go from here, boys?

Page 1 Consider (05/13)

Tabloids minds think alike!

Jon Stewart had a hilarious bit about how you don't even need to secretly record this Donald Sterling guy, just give him a mike and he'll spew even more hate.

Bitch Be Crazy or, Solange's Greatest Hits

I'm too old to really care about Jay-Z and Beyonce. But I'm always up for a good freakout! (My guess is Solange knows Jay-Z is cheating on her sister and was confronting him about it, which is why Beyonce didn't seem to mind what was happening.) Blow-by-blow HERE

Song of the Day: 'I Decided' by Solange

Nothing Beyonce has ever recorded has ever done much for me. But sister Solange's "I Decided," with its '60s girl-group groove and through-the-ages video, is just about right.
