Nadya Ginsburg Brings 'Feral Fatale' to NYC, With Special Guests Madonna and Cher

Well, I'm not sure how that could have been any more fun.

Last night at the Cutting Room, Nadya Ginsburg delivered an affectionate skewering of two gay icons -- Cher and Madonna, who are both such caricatures of themselves these days that you really just have to be a decent impressionist to be hilarious. Thankfully, Nadya's a brilliant one! 

She then stepped into the role of herself, by far the evening's most touching performance.

Like most gay men, I discovered Nadya via her hilarious video sendups of Cher, Madonna and Winona Ryder, who was a no-show last night. 

Perhaps her best moment came when she teamed up with (the similarly underappreciated by Hollywood) Dennis Hensley for a short film, "If We Took a Holiday," about a struggling actress (Ginsburg) whose Madonna-obsessed gay BFF (Hensley) just got dumped so she tries to make his birthday special by imitating the Material Girl all day long. (The film was a sensation when it premiered at Outfest in 2014.) 

And then this past March, Damian and I had the pleasure of seeing Nadya as Cher in Dennis's fund-raising "Mismatch Game" at Los Angeles LGBT Center, where she was the undisputed star of our post-show photo session!

Afterward, I met David Ilku (of Unitard fame) and Craig Chester, both of whom I've admired and "known" online forever but never in the flesh, before spending time with my favorite Jewtalian American Princess ... catch this one if you can!

Just One Day Out of Life

Not entirely sure what happened here. I blogged about Dennis Hensley and Nadya Ginsburg's must-see short film called "If We Took a Holiday" back in 2014. But three years later, the hilarious story of a gay man who gets his best gal pal -- who happens to do a mean Madonna impersonation -- to stay in character as the excruciatingly self-conscious Queen of Pop for 24 hours for his birthday has suddenly gone viralish. Bravo, World Wide Web. The more people who see this mini-masterpiece the better!

Was thrilled to spend some time with my pals Dennis Hensley and Danny Casillas in L.A., last week, both of whom have lots going on.

Dennis' latest -- "If We Took a Holiday" -- had its world premiere at Outfest in Los Angeles Saturday night.

The short film -- about a struggling actress (Nadya Ginsburg) whose gay BFF (Dennis Hensley) just got dumped so she tries to make his birthday special by imitating Madonna all day long -- will screen again Wednesday, July 16th as part of the shorts program "Tickled Pink." Tickets HERE -- the trailer will have you DYING!

Meanwhile, Danny's iconic "Chico's Angels" are back on the case, with "Love Boat Chicas" running through Aug. 17 at the Cavern Club Theater (inside Casita Del Campo) in Silverlake. The new hunk is the dreamiest one yet -- and tickets are available HERE.

This video of comedian Nadya Ginsburg as Cher and Madonna on the set of their new film, "The Worm," has been on everyone's blog for the last week or two, but I didn't get around to watching it until yesterday. I SWEAR to god I actually thought Ginsburg was moving her mouth to recorded snippets of the dueling divas, a la Lipsyncha, because she completely NAILS 'em both! (Pure genius!) And by the time Cher tells "Son" that she "won't have a three-way with Lola Falana," she got me, babe, completely. (Bonus points for the Winona Ryder, too!)
