Former Democratic U.S. senator and onetime Obama surrogate Harris Wofford has revealed he is to wed for the second time after finding love again after the death of his wife of 50 years -- only this time he will marry a man. The 90-year-old wrote a moving op-ed in The New York Times about the tragic loss of his wife, Clare Lindgren, to leukemia in 1996 and beginning a new chapter of his life with 50-year-his-junior Matthew Charlton, with whom he has been involved for 15 years, having met five years after he became a widow. Wofford, a Pennsylvania senator from 1991 to 1995 and an adviser to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., met Clare while serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II(!), he writes in the Times.
