Gavin Rossdale Blames Divorce From Gwen Stefani on Gender-Bender Ex Marilyn: Report

I do recall '80s pop tart Marilyn -- ne(e) Peter Robinson -- giving an interview to the tabloids about his long-ago affair with Gavin Rossdale. But I'm a little surprised -- or should I say skeptical -- that that could be what destroyed the Bush man's marriage to Gwen Stefani. Perhaps Gavin's bisexuality in general was a factor, but a desperate phone call seems highly unlikely to me. Still ...

Gwen Stefani could never shake her fears that Gavin Rossdale cheated. But were her suspicions justified? RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal that Rossdale did reach out to a former lover in the weeks before their divorce: cross-dressing pop singer Marilyn! “I spoke to him a couple weeks ago, ” Marilyn, born Peter Robinson, told Radar in an exclusive interview. “He called me.” According to Marilyn, Rossdale unleashed an emotional hour-long monologue about how his former lover was responsible for the breakdown of his marriage to Stefani. Marilyn claimed he ranted about, “the way everything is my fault” in an conversation that quickly became heated. “Because I did an interview [about the affair] … and everything from then on is all my fault.” “And I’m listening to all this. He said ‘You’re getting all worked up,’ and I said ‘Out of two of us, who’s the one screaming?’ He went on and on.” But eventually, “He did calm down and caught himself,” Marilyn said. Rossdale initially denied his affair with Marilyn when he first came forward in 2009, but the Bush frontman admitted two years later that the couple had shared a sexual relationship in the early 1980s. That inability to accept his past, according to the pop star, doomed his marriage to Stefani. “Gwen wants him to be something he’s not, and he wants to be something he’s not,” said Marilyn. “That’s my interpretation.” “I’m very sad for all parties involved, mostly the children.”

Despite Straight Lines, Indeed ...

I wondered why my blog traffic was suddenly going through the roof yesterday on a post I'd written in January about '80s gender bender Marilyn. Seems the onetime BFF of Boy George has finally "admitted"(!) his affair with Mr. Gwen Stefani himself, Gavin Rossdale, something I'm sure was just awful for him to do, living in the projects with his mum these days, no doubt on the dole. (Despite what the story says, I DO NOT remember Marilyn denying the affair back when Boy George wrote about in his 1995 memoir, "Take It Like a Man.")

I picked up a copy of the mag this afternoon and while I don't doubt they were lovers (would fucking Marilyn even make Gavin bi?!), there are a few doozies in there that seem a bit much even from a vain, washed-up '80s drag diva (LOVE HIM!), including the following gems: Marilyn claims to not be gay. Marilyn claims to have not been intimate with anyone since Gavin. Marilyn claims he and Gwen "kept locking eyes" at her 2002 wedding to Rossdale. And he claims that a friend close to the rocker couple tells him his name is "taboo" around the Rossdale-Stefani house. He also thinks it's a little "suspect" that Gavin named his first son Kingston, the city where Marilyn was born. (I'll give you that one, Maz!!!)
