Novak Djokovic Splits With Boris Becker

Don't really have a lot of feelings about this news. Winning the French Open was clearly driving Nole these past couple years, and it just seemed like once he'd accomplished that, tennis took a slight backseat to fatherhood and enjoying life. His first six months were almost unparalleled and the second "bad" six were something most players would dream of. He's supposedly "re" committing himself to the game in 2017, which doesn't bode well for the rest of the field.

Coaching Inc.

So fun to see Novak Djokovic and Marin Cilic on the practice court with Boris Becker and Goran Ivanisevic. Have there ever been this many former top players coaching at once before?

Ivanisevic says he expects to see Marin Cilic in the top 10 "pretty soon."

Djokovic Hires Boris Becker as Coach

Wow, did not see THIS coming. Can't decide if it's more Lendl-Murray or Connors-Sharapova. Good for Novak not to rest on his laurels and strive to improve, though. He's gonna need all the help he can get if Rafael Nadal's knees hold up.

They seem like they get along!

Boom Boom Book

He's only my age, but German tennis hunk Boris Becker is slated to release a second memoir, "Life Is Not a Game," in which he promises to explain that "affair" he had in the closet of a trendy London restaurant back in 1999. (A child resulted in the 15-second incident.) He says the new tome takes on "those who took the opportunity to judge me and sometimes to condemn me and my family." He writes that he was simply "looking for love, a feeling of security," adding, "when you do not have that at home then you may look for that elsewhere, when the opportunity presents itself." Perfectly natural feeling for a man who had a pregnant wife at home at the time! Why this wasn't already addressed in his 2003 memoir -- "The Player" -- is anyone's guess. But with an ass like his, he can pretty much get away with anything in my book.

Wednesday Ad Watch: Boris Becker for Praktiker

Apparently when Boris Becker isn't impregnating strangers in coat closets in Chinese restaurants, he does advertising for Praktiker, which appears to be Germany's equivalent to Home Depot. (Cute!)

(Thanks, Robert!)
