Martina and Tracy Square Off (Again) in Singapore!

Legends matches at the year-end event in Singapore are new(s) to me, so imagine my delight to see my girl Tracy Austin on the roster. The former Powerhouse in Pinafore appeared to be the weakest link at the recent World Team Tennis showdown in Las Vegas, but wouldn't you know it she teamed with (a blond) Arantxa Sanchez Vicario to beat Martina Navratilova and (a leggy) Marion Bartoli in an eight-game pro set (8-5)! Sadly, this untelevised match is far more interesting than any of the so-called marquee match-ups ...

40 Love: Christ [sic] Evert, Queens of the Past, still got the look

  With thanks to Dave, who pointed me to these often-hilarious photos from the WTA 40 Love Celebration during Middle Sunday of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Tracy Austin and Chris Evert don't look bad -- and even Tracy's former doubles partner Betty Stove looks OK given what she has to work with. But Justine Henin is a total drag (king), and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario looks straight out of the WTA calendars of old, when even the most feminine player in the world nearly ended up looking like a drag queen!
