'Late with Lance!' Begins 6-Week Residency in NYC Bar Basement

NEW YORK CITY -- After a year of sold-out shows from NYC to London, musical theater fanatic, cruise ship performer and celebrity stalker Lance is back in NYC with six special farewell shows featuring local celebrities. As always, Lance has invited Cher, Liza Minnelli, Hugh Jackman, Gloria Estefan and Andrew Lloyd Webber to be guests on his makeshift talk show, but they've yet to confirm. However, an exciting roster of NYC stars have confirmed their appearance including: Original "Fame" star Laura Dean, SONDHEIMAS producer David Levy, beloved chanteuse Tammy Faye, YouTube Sensation Christina Bianco and TimeOut theater critic Adam Feldman.

"I've been tweeting so many famous celebrities for the past year to be on my show," says Lance, currently stage managing for his two gay dads on the S.S. Spectacular. "I haven't gotten a single retweet or fave from any of them! But all of these local celebrities begged me to share the spotlight to talk about themselves and their upcoming projects. How could I say no?"

"Late with Lance!" (written & performed by New York writer-director-actor Peter Michael Marino) received 5-star reviews at the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, followed by a packed performance at London's Arts Theatre West End and capacity crowds from NYC to Hollywood.

Peter Michael Marino’s beloved, delusional cruise ship entertainer hosts two more ridiculous talk shows before heading to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Meet Lance…celebrity stalker and pathological musical theater fanatic. After a 15-year hiatus from the cabaret world, Lance is back in town with his own brand of variety talk show. He’s invited Liza Minnelli, Hugh Jackman and Miami Sound Machine to be on his show - and that’s surely bound to happen. This solo show/talk show spoof with a musical theater twist features original song parodies, The Sound of Music performed in five minutes, an homage to the film Fame, and many more ridiculous surprises. Lance has suffered for his art. Now it’s your turn.

Peter Michael Marino is the performer and creator of Lance Jonathan’s critically acclaimed cabaret spoofs “All About Me!” and “More About Me!” - which rocked the cabaret circuit in the mid-90s and led to a Backstage Bistro Award for Outstanding Achievement, and a number of MAC Award nominations. He is also the creator of “Desperately Seeking the Exit” which toured the world for over two years and recounted his tale of writing the flop Blondie musical “Desperately Seeking Susan.” In addition to directing dozens of solo comedies, Peter is the creator of SOLOCOM at The PIT which debuted 90 original solo comedies in November 2014.

I saw it and I'm still not exactly sure what my pal Peter Michael Marino's show "Late With Lance" is about -- part talk show, part monologue, part audience participation. A fresh look at a fabled flop with rarely seen footage 

NEW YORK CITY – Following the international success of his solo comedy Desperately Seeking the Exit, writer and performer Peter Michael Marino presents his new multimedia companion piece Desperately Screening Susan at The People’s Improv Theater (The PIT) on Friday, February 14th at 8:00 PM.

Desperately Screening Susan is a 60-minute show and tell which utilizes rare West End production footage, original film clips, music, images and a bit of backstage goss to tell the story of how he adapted the beloved Madonna movie Desperately Seeking Susan into a West End Blondie musical that closed after a month.

Marino made lemonade out of his lemon and turned the tale of his epic flop into the 5-star reviewed one-man comedy Desperately Seeking the Exit. For the past two years, Marino has performed the solo show on three continents, including a month-long run at London’s Leicester Square Theatre. Now audiences can engage in the multi-media experience of Desperately Screening Susan in this one-night only event.

In addition to writing and performing, Marino is the creator and co-producer of SOLOCOM, an all-solo festival that packed houses at The PIT this past November and gave birth to 60 world premiere solo comedies.

Singers who want to twerk. Dancers who want to juggle daggers. Comics who dare to get serious. Perhaps some X-rated ventriloquism. The monthly variety showcase called COJONES invites performers to try something onstage they've always wanted to do but didn't have the you-know-whats to try. 

Peter Michael Marino hosts COJONES the last Friday of the month starting at 11 p.m., Friday, January 31 at the The People’s Improv Theater (The PIT), 123 East 24th Street (off Park Ave). Marino is the creator and co-producer of SOLOCOM, an all-solo festival that packed houses at The PIT this past November and gave birth to 60 world premiere solo comedies. He has been performing his 5-star reviewed one-man comedy Desperately Seeking the Exit for the past two years on three continents, including a month-long run at London’s Leicester Square Theatre. He was named Favorite NYC Comedy Teacher by Backstage, and has directed dozens of shows at The PIT, Ars Nova, Don’t Tell Mama, IO West and more.
