Impressive that Woody Allen is still setting records -- his "Café Society" is slated to open the Cannes Film Festival, making him the first director to do so three times -- yet grumpy old me is still finding it hard to get excited about a movie starring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg.

What's weird is it's not just me being a curmudgeon. Almost all of his best films -- "Crimes and Misdemeanors," "Hannah and Her Sisters," "Radio Days," "Manhattan" and, more recently, "Blue Jasmine" -- were about middle-aged people, so his youthquake misstep is entirely self-inflicted.
