Talk about entrapment! This post from my pal John Espinosa tickled me to no end, as I could totally see myself doing the same thing -- except I don't recall ever seeing the commercials, much less the actual blue jeans, at the time, despite all but living at Fiesta Mall.
Truth be told, I remember being very confused when Debbie Harry mentioned that she didn't think the deal was "selling out" in a People magazine article written by a guy I would befriend decades later at the Big Cup in New York City, and later when Chris Stein was crying poor in "Making Tracks" (1982), claiming that what little he and Debbie did have was "mostly jeans money." (Huh?)
Thank god for stuff like this -- and the ability to find the unfindable on YouTube -- for helping a completist like me avoid lying awake at night!
