I first heard that same complaint nearly 50 years ago. Some gay men have always been offended by drag. Nothing has changed there, they just think their suffering is greater than anyone else's who came before them. Assh*les.
Does this guy realise that men have been dressing as women for hundreds of years? In fact it is thanks to a certain William Shakespeare that the word "drag" exists! He needs to do his homework!!
As far as I can tell, there are lots of different guys and lots of different bars. Just pick another place already, or enjoy the work that goes into those boys acting like certain talented famous or fantasy girls. With social media all gay bars should be cherished!
Maybe he should go to a straight bar
Last time I was in P-town, my BFF & I noticed there were a ton of drag shows which seemed to be drawing in crowds of straights. We went to one of the shows, which was attended by a mostly straight crowd. This crowd had a "look at the freaks" mentality & they made really ugly comments revealing this attitude. It was very disturbing. Have nothing against groups of straight girls in gay bars, but if they also have a "look at the freaks" mentality? Ugh. But if they're not bothering anybody, then who cares? We need all the support we can get.
I'm not offended by women or drag queens, but I agree with the original post. It's become nearly impossible to go to a gay bar without one or the other changing the dynamics or putting a damper on the experience. Even on special event nights featuring fetish shows or other sexual themes when you hope to let your inhibitions down, there they are.
