Though I wouldn't have fallen for this particular satire, there is some great stuff out there that is totally believable. Rachel Maddow was taken in recently by ChristWire on a Palin quote. It is precisely because Palin is so ridiculous that these parodies can be taken seriously.
Palin wasn't the only one on the right who complained about a "foreigner" singing the national anthem. It takes a 10 second search to find that she was born in NY, but that doesn't matter. Facts don't matter.
