Pick of the Litter: Boy George reported for garbage duty on the streets of Manhattan early today, his court-ordered community service that was described by a judge as an "exercise in humiliation or in humility." The one-time Culture Club singer was ordered to spend five days working for the Department of Sanitation after pleading guilty in March to falsely reporting a burglary at his Lower Manhattan apartment. The officers who responded found huge bags of cocaine instead. At 7 a.m., Boy George, wearing dark capri pants, no socks, a sweatshirt, and without the wild makeup that made him so recognizable, walked inside the Lower East Side sanitation depot without speaking to reporters earlier today. Best Anonymous Source -- Ever: Newspapers constantly struggle in deciding when to use quotes from people who don't want to be identified. This isn't one of those cases: "I don't think I'd ever gained that much weight that quickly," recalled Janet, who asked me not to use her full name because she didn't want people to know how fat she had once been. Her agent says it's been "caught very much in time," but having experienced this disease firsthand with my father last year I question the accuracy of this statement. Either way, here's pulling for you Emily -- you're the best. (AP)
