Rival Serial Killers: My hometown of Phoenix is currently under siege with two serial killers on the loose. The "Serial Shooter," whose area of operation is thought to be even larger than that of the "Baseline Killer," is suspected of as many as 34 random shootings since May 2005 that have killed five people. The gunman usually makes targets of people walking or bicycling alone along major thoroughfares. When I first heard about this crime spree last week I contacted friends and family back home and got a decidedly uninterested response. "Actually, I have to admit that I haven't been paying too much attention to it ..." said one, and "Apparently people are just getting shot walking down the street. But most of them probably deserved it. What do they have to walk on the sidewalk for?" asked another concerned family member. (EVT)
