Morning Wood: Justin Hartley

All I'm going to say about dreamy 6-foot-3 soap stud/new dad Justin Hartley is that his latest acting credit was in the bisexual road pic "Race You to the Bottom" (I'd love to).

UPDATE: It looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of Justin in prime time soon: a friend informs me that Justin has just been cast in the lead role of the new CW show Aquaman, replacing Will Toale.

A CW (that's the new WB/UPN combo network) spokesperson had this to say about the switcharoo: "Will is a talented actor with a promising career and we hope to work with him in the future. We have made the decision to go in a different direction with the Aquaman role and wish him the best of luck in all of his endeavors."

  • Page 1 Consider (02/22)

  • Dedication: A block near the headquarters of ABC News has been renamed Peter Jennings Way, honoring the longtime anchor of "World News Tonight." Others are just calling it the smoking section. (AP)

  • Port of No Return: President Bush went on the offensive yesterday defending an Arab company's attempt to take over the operation of seaports in Baltimore and five other cities, threatening a veto if Congress tries to kill a deal his administration has blessed. Makes perfect sense to me: we're over in Iraq smoking out the terrorists before they can even get here. Why don't we just appoint Osama bin Laden as the god-damn secretary of commerce while we're at it? (WP)

  • Chucky Auto-Pilot: Martina Hingis disposed of the overhyped 19-year-old Indian tennis star Sania Mirza 6-3, 7-5 in the Dubai Open, Hingis' fifth tournament into a remarkable comeback after three years out of the game. (Guardian)

  • Take Two: The Episcopal Church is said to be electing a second openly gay bishop. The drunk apparently wasn't enough for them -- this time they're hoping for a tina whore. (Advocate)

  • You Said Balls: Internet rumours “name” bisexual football star / In a testament to just how little Americans care about soccer, even gays in this country aren't interested in the so-called salacious tabloid tale of supposed threeways involving big-name "footballers." (PinkNews)
  • She'll Tumble 4 Ya

When I was in high school I was known for looking like a cross between Limahl and Howard Jones (for reasons that are not even clear to myself, I'm still proud of this). Two of my best friends (sisters Tina and Yuki) had this Japanese-Mexican Culture Club thing going on. Twentysome years later, I hear that Yuki's daughter (above) likes to have '80s parties. God help the Class of '85 ... we may need Jazzies soon.

    The Brothers Walsh

Would you believe that my older brothers and I are all writer/editor types?

Like it or not, we're all dancing queens as the latest national tour of the jukebox musical based on the disco hits of the group ABBA, "Mamma Mia!," comes grooving into ASU's Gammage Auditorium for a one-week run.

I am not dancing, and I am not a queen.

    Morning Wood: William McNamara

William McNamara first caught my eye when he played the young Mark Harmon opposite Jodie Foster in "Stealing Home," but it was his portrayal of the preppy sexually confused groom-to-be in the brilliant film "Doing Time on Maple Drive" that made me fall in love with him. Although Billy never became the megastar I thought he would (his life has taken a bizarre twist of late as he is involved in a RICO lawsuit against the L.A. County district attorney's office claiming that the D.A. and his minions attempted to extort money from him), he's as handsome as ever and continues to work regularly in TV and films -- as well as being active in various causes.

Gay Al Reynolds: The New Scott Peterson?

Remember when Wal-Mart blamed its Web site's cross-selling feature for recommending "similar" items like "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge" and "Martin Luther King: I Have a Dream" to people who bought "Planet of the Apes"?

Now I see that Amazon.com is packaging Star Jones' new book about finding true love with Al Reynolds along with a new book about the Laci Peterson murder. Is this just another "computer glitch" or might Amazon's cross-selling program be trying to warn everyone's favorite stomach-stapled homo-loving attorney about impending doom? (My fingers are crossed.)
