Celebrity Audit: Politically correct gossip hounds TMZ thought they had a Judge Lance Ito sighting over at the Advocate's 40th birthday party in West Hollywood. Turned out it was just Jeff Lee, from accounts payable. (LAT) /(Advocate)
Judge Heartless: A New York immigration judge who ripped into a Chinese man for weeping during his asylum hearing has been rebuked by a federal appeals court that took the rare step of ordering her off the case. The judge got annoyed when the man became (in her words) overly emotional in discussing how the authorities in China had forced his wife to get an abortion in her first pregnancy, and that he had been beaten and threatened with sterilization during her second pregnancy in 1993, causing him to flee to the United States before his daughter was born. Asked about his tears at the asylum hearing, Jian Zhong Sun, a restaurant worker, said he cried "because I have not seen my daughter after 11 years." Unbelievable that a judge with that much power could be so cold. (NYT)
Charity Laugh: How sad that A faith-based theater group in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., blew $100,000 on an ad in Monday's USA Today saying "enough is enough" in response to Kathy Griffin's Emmy acceptance speech. in which she told god to "suck it." Attempting to strip someone of their freedom to be hilarious of speech goes against all American principles, including our freedom of religion. Furthermore, can you imagine what kind of faith-based good deeds they could have done for the needy with 100,000 smackers? Stupidity costs this world so much. When Kathy heard about the ad she issued a statement asking: "Am I the only Catholic left with a sense of humor?" (IHT)
Eye on Scapegoating: Wow, Dan Rather is suing CBS News for even more money than Dick Jefferson. And Jefferson actually did work. (NYT)
Bring on the Crazy: O.J. Simpson is free on bail. (AP)
Flesh Forward: "High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens' career really seems to have taken off since her nude photo scandal broke (Paris Hilton, anyone?). I'd watch your back if I were you, Mark Steines. (Stuff)
Ex-Gay Ministry: It's kind of hard to find time to cure gays when you're busy sexually assaulting them. (Advocate)
Celebrity Justice: The jurors in the Phil Spector murder trial are hopelessly deadlocked? Is that a euphemism in Los Angeles for "in negotiations with book publishers"? My thoughts are with Lana Clarkson's family who does not deserve to be treated this way. Wasn't having their daughter murdered bad enough? (AP)
Hillcrest-ed: In a reversal, the mayor of San Diego now supports gay marriage. (AP)
Kath Griffin is not funny. I dont think the church that took out that ad was trying to strip anyne of their right to free speech, rather they are exercising their right to it. I'm not sure I get the comment regarding how that money could have been better spent. Couldn't we say the same about the Emmy's? How much wasted money got blown on that piece of crap? I found the church's ad much more entertaining.

Did you see Kathy Griffin on Larry King Live a few days ago? She was, as always, hilarious!
