Performance Appraisal : China on Tuesday executed the former head of its food and drug watchdog who had become a symbol of the country’s wide-ranging problems on product safety. I guess "Does Not Meet Expectation" on his review wasn't considered severe enough. (AP)
Wanged and Dangerous: Wait a second: gay prisoners in South Africa have the right to marry but law-abiding citizens in New York City can't? (365Gay)
Who's Got the New Boy Gender? Toronto rockers The Cliks are the first band with a transgendered frontman -- FTM Lucas Silveira -- to be signed to a major record label. Lucas has a shoe fetish and declines to give his age, so I'm guessing he's a gay man then. (AP)
Wannabe: Gearing up for the premiere of her reality television series "special" (read: there wasn't enough footage for more than one episode), Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham assured the media that she doesn't wish for a Hollywood film career. Wish granted. (Reuters)
Aiken for a Beatin': I think it's great that Clay Aiken's being so fun about his airline scuffle ("Did you hear I got beat up by a woman?") but I can't help but think that the woman should have killed him. He was putting his feet on her armrest. (AP)
Corny, Indeed: Lance Bass as Corny Collins in Broadway's "Hairspray"? Now there's some excellent type-casting. (AP)
Roar Shack: Leo can be the king of my jungle anytime he likes. (OhLaLa)
Shit Brown: Despite a New Jersey Supreme Court ruling that same-sex couples must have the same benefits as married couples, and a state law creating civil unions to comply with the ruling United Parcel Service says it will not provide health and insurance benefits to the civil unioned partners of its workers in the state. The details are disturbing but this is exactly why gay rights activists having been saying we must have marriage. Without the same name we will never get the same treatment. (Towleroad)

Whether its marriage or civil unions doesnt matter I don't think. HEalth benefits fall under a federal law called ERISA and you can never sue in state court under ERISA. Until federal law recognizes gay marriage, employers dont have to offer same sex benefits. I doubt UPS offers those benefits in MAssachussetts either.
I love that Christine Taylor looks more like Marcia Brady in my mind than Maureen McCormick ever did -- kind of like when Cher guest-starred...
