Captain Jack: I had the biggest crush on John Barrowman back when he was Peter Fairchild on the short-lived 1990s nighttime soap opera "Central Park West." Now the just-married-to-a-man actor is heating things up for our team on the BBC's "Torchwood." (Famousmales)
Ass Backward: Lawmakers in Massachusetts, the only state where same-sex marriage is legal, voted Tuesday to allow a proposed constitutional amendment to move forward that could effectively ban the practice. The amendment's backers had collected 170,000 signatures to get a question on the 2008 ballot asking voters to declare marriage to be between only a man and a woman, but they still needed the approval of legislators in two consecutive sessions. How sad that there are that many people in the world (specifically in Massachusetts) who have nothing better to do than undermine progress that has been proven in the past two years to be beneficial to all aspects of society. (AP)
Speaking of Which: Presidential hopeful John Edwards, who is appealing in so many ways, has admitted that he is in favor of same-sex civil unions, but is "not there yet" on gay marriage. Let's hope this is campaign talk for "I can't admit that I'm for it while trying to win a national election, but give me some time as president and I won't let you down." My goal for 2007 is to dream big :-) (AP)
Luckiest Doctor on Earth:Pitcher Barry Zito passed his physical with the San Francisco Giants. (Were there any cameras on the examining room?) (AP)
Lining Up: He's got very little experience in politics, but now there's finally a reason to consider voting for Barack Obama. (WP)
Less Grande: On Tuesday, Starbucks announced plans to drop trans fats in all of its stores. Does this include the staff? (AP)
What's Going On??? The son of music legend Lou Rawls is suing the son of Motown legend Marvin Gaye, claiming he was attacked by "four large dogs" during a visit to Gaye's Hollywood home in 2005. (AP)
The Mating Game: Fuck a chiseled guy, marry a pie face? (LiveScience)
Gay Boyz in the 'Hood: Chicago police said a shooting at a South Side home known by neighbors as the "gay house" may have been a hate crime. Six people were injured, two seriously, when two masked gunmen forcibly entered the house and opened fire during a party early Sunday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday. Although the police aren't calling this a hate crime yet, I think this quote from a neighbor says about all you need to know: "We always be seeing them, and they always be looking at people. They give you that gay look, like you're a female or something. That ain't cute. People be ready to fight ... I knew something was going to happen to that house." (ChicagoTribune)
Nip/Tuck Spoiler: I'm way behind on my "Nip/Tuck" DVR watching, so don't click here if you are too. But it sure looks like something very shocking happened, even for that show. (Open at home only!)
