One Step Backward? I'm confused: The gay cable network LOGO has greenlighted a show about a ghost who's in the closet? (HR)
Deadly Drumstick: Ice cream trucks are apparently big business in New York City -- so much so that some people are willing to beat the living daylights out of competitors. That's exactly what's landed Fernando Esparza behind bars for the next ten years. Esparza drew the sentence for attacking a couple who owned a rival ice cream truck. (WNBC)
DirectASSAULT: A technician for DirecTV was arrested Tuesday and charged with raping an 18-year-old teenager in her Uniondale home after coming to the house for a service call, Nassau County police said. To add insult to injury, he did not even fix the girl's dish. (Newsday)
Another 'Comeback'? Gay fave Lisa Kudrow of "Friends" fame and her producing partner Dan Bucatinsky have signed a two-year contract with NBC, giving its Hollywood studio first dibs on a series. Bucatinsky, who starred as Kudrow's tempermental publicist on last year's brilliant HBO series "The Comeback," also starred in the delightful film "All Over the Guy." (BBC)
Village People: Just two weeks after The Village Voice, the alternative weekly, said it had hired Erik Wemple as its new editor in chief, he turned around and announced that he had quit before he had even started. In a statement released late Thursday, Wemple, 41, said: “I’m sorry to say that I will not be taking the editor’s position at The Village Voice. I met with the staff earlier this week and very much enjoyed our time together. However, the paper’s ownership and I have failed to come to terms in our many discussions about moving forward, particularly with respect to newsroom management.” (VV)
