Against my parents' better wishes, I took French in high school instead of Spanish. (Molly and Gary were right this time -- we lived in Phoenix!) But I just couldn't resist. Along with New York City, Paris just seemed like nirvana for a sensitive boy from Michizona -- and sadly it's starting to seem like I was 100% right to favor France as their handsome new president has done the right thing for queer people in Chechnya while our country turns a blind eye.
