'The Event' on DVD

Did anyone see this film from a few years ago called "The Event"? (I'm just reading about it today.) It stars Parker Posey and Olympia Dukaksis (among others) and is described as a relationship drama that takes the form of a mystery centering around a series of unexplained deaths that occur among the gay community in Chelsea. Nick (Posey), a district attorney investigating the most recent case (a suspicious apparent suicide), and her interviews with friends and family of the deceased trigger extensive and intricately interwoven flashbacks that reveal surprising facts about the man's life and death from complications of AIDS.

The trailer looks great (view it here). My sources tell me the film won several awards back in 2003 but was sorely missed by many in the gay community. You can buy the DVD here and it's available on NetFlix now too.

'The One' AIDS Benefit T-shirt

Danny Boy: Last week I reported that "Real World: New Orleans" dreamboat Danny Roberts had called it quits with his longtime (military) beau, Paul. I'd read about it online on the Advocate.com but came across the hard copy at my vet's office yesterday (for $471.30 I decided it was OK to steal the magazine). I've updated the post to include this oh-so-necessary photograph of Danny today. He says that while he was selling real estate a couple years ago, many people were contacting him who weren't actually interested in buying a house. Imagine that. (kenneth in the 212)

One for the Gals: Logo channel has begun production on a new lesbian sitcom. "Exes and Ohs" follows the romantic entanglements of Jennifer (Michelle Paradise) and her gay pals in caffeinated Seattle. One of those friends is Crutch, a wannabe rock star played by gay actress Heather Matarazzo. The sitcom is based on the short film "The Ten Rules: A Lesbian Survival Guide" and will premiere in 2007.
