Trick or treat?
UPDATE:
As I was looking through old photos, I came across this one from the Halloween party I hosted in 1980, when I was in eighth grade. This was shot early in the evening, when we took my sister and her friend trick-or-treating, but later it got hopping and sort of became legendary -- the year before everything went to hell with the tennis team. (That's Jim Bell in front in blue.)
It’s a perfect example of how the costumes people wear on TV shows are always infinitely better than anything anyone has in real life. Other than my friend Mike's punker look -- which he would adopt in real life a year later -- my Strawberry Shortcake little sister and the sheik, I can't tell who anyone is supposed to be, although I'm sensing a firing squad theme based on people’s expressions.
Particularly egregious is yours truly -- unless I was merely going as a big queer -- because I'm not sure what this was supposed to be.
Although I look like a less-butch Bea Arthur, my first instinct, given how obsessed I was with slasher films of the era, was that it was something Jamie Lee Curtis-related. But your guess is as good as mine -- so I'll Venmo 50 bucks to anyone who can solve the mystery!
This was Strawberry Shortcake's guess, but I'd have to think I'd have gotten a dress like Norman Bates wore.
And my friend Mark thinks the key is the footwear ...

Hm. The hair looks like it has baby powder in it to look ghostly or old. The white is throwing me. Like a hospital orderly. The legs...pirate?
