After moving from the NYC suburbs (against my will) in ninth grade, I am 250 miles away in Northern Virginia, where we know how to elect a Democratic U.S. Congressman and Senator.
I move from 5 miles from Philadelphia to center city Philadelphia then about 7 miles from center city still in Philadelphia. All told about 12 miles from where I grew up.
I'm 3,262 miles from where I was born, and my husband is 4,181 miles away. But we moved to paradise (minus a volcano eruption) and we have no plans to go back! Had to look up the actual distance!
I spent 20 years about 2000 miles from where I was born, living in Las Vegas, where I met my husband (who was 1350 miles from where he was born). But we moved back to my hometown, and now I'm only 17 miles away. Only about 8 miles due east of where I grew up.
I used to think it was sad when people I grew up with still lived in my hometown. I still feel weird about it, though I'm glad I got away for a good long while, and experienced "somewhere else."
I'm about 3,940 miles from my birthplace (born on a US military base in Germany, now living in Toronto). My husband (born in Bulgaria) is 4,800 miles away from where he was born.
