Sorry, but the parents made the right call. People are vicious, this girl has been saved a shitload of grief. Whether or not the world should be this way, sending the wrong message about what's important in life, etc-- is beside the point.
I don't find anything wrong with what the parents did. I mean, its not that unusual for kids to have cosmetic surgery for major deformities. In the 1960s at age 2 my mother had most of the skin on her face replaced because she was born with a large port wine stain birth mark covering her face.
I think the little girl looks adorable both before and she'll avoid a lot of crap out of life.
My sister had the exact same surgery, although her ears stuck out even farther, at the age of 8 and has never regretted it. In fact, she told me the first thing she checked when her kids were born was not the number of fingers or toes they had, but how their ears looked.

Now she needs a new haircut.
She would have had it done sooner or later so not sure why this is controversial. Or why they felt the need to publicize it.
I'm with the parents...but only 'cuz it's ears. Fake tits, they need to wait until at least 12 or 13.
