Forget any of the movies they've made of the story, this past summer when I read Paul Gallico's 1969 novel "The Poseidon Adventure," I imagined Christian Bale as the main character, Frank Scott.
Gene Hackman played him in the '72 flick, but Gallico originally drew him as a late 20's/early 30's Princeton hunk...who, by the end of the book, is practically buck naked!!
Now, had Wolfgang Petersen gone THAT route rather than the sorry one he took, the '06 remake might have found a wider audience.
Forget about the movies that have been made of the story...last summer, when I read Paul Gallico's 1969 novel "The Poseidon Adventure," I imagined Christian Bale as the main character, Frank "Buzz" Scott.
Gene Hackman played him in the 1972 film, but Gallico drew him as a late 20's college football hunk who, by the end of the book, is practically buck naked!!
Now...had Wolfgang Petersen gone THAT route rather than the crappy one he took, the 2006 remake would have found a wider audience.
