Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed by their son, Nick, according to multiple sources who have spoken with family members. Police have not yet confirmed the account.Police say Nick, 32, is alive and being questioned. No arrests have been made.In a 2016 interview with People, Nick spoke about his years-long struggle with drug addiction, which began in his early teens and eventually left him living on the streets. He said he cycled in and out of rehab beginning around age 15, but as his addiction escalated, he drifted farther from home and spent significant stretches homeless in multiple states.Nick told People that the chaotic period of addiction -- including nights and sometimes weeks sleeping outside -- later became the basis for the semi-autobiographical film "Being Charlie," which he co-wrote.“Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in L.A. and being around my family," Nick told People at the time.

Parricide: Rob Reiner and Wife Michele Were Killed by Their Son
Got home from the SAGE Toys Party tonight to the horrific news that Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, had been murdered in their Brentwood estate, which immediately had me thinking it had to have been done by someone close to the couple.
Moments later, People magazine exclusively reported that their very troubled son, Nick Reiner, was responsible for the crime:
A heartbreaking end to a remarkable life.

Remains of the Day (12/12)
KJM: Another fantastic piece by Kevin Jack McEnroe, as he reflects on six years of sobriety. I wasn't sure why I've been drawn to his work but now I'm realizing it's a combination of reasons. I have always bristled at the mention of addiction -- somehow my brothers and I were supposed to "get over" having no father as little boys just because someone used the magic word -- yet I'm finding Kevin's writing about the topic to be revelatory and helpful, as well as entertaining. Note: It couldn't be any more obvious who his mother and father are in this photo from his recent wedding, and not just because they're the most famous faces.
Dallas Voice: Arlington Pride 2026 canceled following City Council vote to scrap LGBTQ protections. Everything is bigger in Texas, including homophobia.

ESPN: Absolutely heartbroken for Jason Collins, who has penned a moving essay about his terminal brain cancer diagnosis. His bravery in coming out as the first "big four" team athlete meant the world to me and many others. Here's hoping his battle carries on for a long time to come.
DM: Interesting to read that Cher got Chaz Bono's permission to "dead name" him in her memoirs. Ironically, Mom refers to him as Chas -- not Chastity -- so it must sound exactly the same on the audiobook! Happy to hear that her other son, Elijah Blue Allman, has recovered from a recent overdose. What a nightmare.
Queerty: She knew her “sexually ambiguous ice-skating bartender” boyfriend was gay and she married him anyway
The Hustler: Johnny Harden revealed

Remains of the Day (12/05)
Dekkoo: Liam Calvert's "A Night Like This" (2025) is definitely worth a watch. Alexander Lincoln and Jack Brett Anderson are so sexy and have such incredible chemistry that you'll remain invested till the morning after, even if the story gets a tad clumsy at times.

Shame Game: Our weekly viral fat “shaming” event is upon us, with a woman who claims her Delta seatmate complained about her size. I know I've been unkind about the topic in the past -- which, to be honest, is far more tongue-in-cheek than most people realize, a way of deflecting my desire to live on nothing but Nutter Butters and milk -- but I will add this: I feel for this woman and I realize most seats are too small for most of us, much less someone who is larger-statured. But it is a balancing act. Damian and I recently spent more money than we ever have on concert tickets to see Stevie Nicks, and after the show started, a young woman arrived to fill the one vacant seat directly beside us -- which forced Damian to stand entirely in front of my chair and left me 100% in the aisle, with no seat (for the ballads). We were sympathetic and didn't say anything. But would I be “shaming” anyone if we had wanted to be able to use the chairs we paid a small fortune for? Because I don't see any “nice” way of bringing it up -- and god knows she didn’t either, not even a courtesy nod.

Rearview Mirror 2025
Another year has flown by -- I barely got my spring vacation photos uploaded before Thanksgiving rolled around -- but I want to take a moment to thank all of you who have continued to stop by the (212). Blogs like mine are definitely being replaced by Substacks and social media in general, so I appreciate that my 20th year(!) still saw substantial traffic. Although blogging is still my main online outlet, I am active (for my age) on other platforms. Above are my Top Nine posts from Instagram, where you can find me HERE. I'm also on Threads, Facebook and Bluesky if any of those are more your speed. xo

Music to My Ears
I can't imagine this would be of much interest to anyone but me. But since everyone's flooding social media with their yearend music wrap-ups, here's a look at what's been in heavy rotation this year at Casa Walsh. Of note: I saw three of them live in 2025 and have tickets to see a fourth in the months ahead!
Donny and Marie would be proud!
