RIP, Gay Print Media

As I continue to nurse the wounds of the death of my own print-media career comes word that Atlanta-based Window Media shut down the pioneering Washington Blade on Monday, as well as its other gay publications, which include the Southern Voice newspaper and David magazine in Atlanta, and the South Florida Blade and 411 magazine in Florida (I think we know how Dan's day was). This news, combined with reports that The Advocate will no longer be sold on newsstands -- look for a condensed version to be included in home-delivery copies of Out magazine instead -- all but wipes out gay print media as we know it. Given the state of all print media, this is not a surprise. But to me, it makes it no less sad.

QVegas has been publishing since 1978 and seems to still be going strong.

Not to worry: YouTube has announced that citizen-journalists will post video to the site, so people will have greater access to news. Of course, nobody will get paid a dime for doing this volunteer work. But we'll all get what we pay for -- nothing.

tragic if that's the case on many fronts. much as some print media has not been responsible in relation to standing at the forefront, how is the manner of accountability to source if one exists in relation to new media?.?.?

nothing -- is that relative to the continued closing of the mind or a shift??
