Beverly Hills Film Festival: My new friend Frank DeCaro and his hubby, Jim Colucci, have some great photos from the premiere of "Sock It to Me: The Legend of George Schlatter," which chronicles the six-decade career of the pioneering television producer and director of "Laugh-In" fame. (He's 96!) On hand were 88-year-old Jo Anne Worley, Lily Tomlin, Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell and more.

WSJ: After 30 years and $100,000, my pal Fred finally ditched his storage space -- only to come clean and immediately buy something new he doesn’t need. Just one detail strains credulity: Who has ever found Mrs. Broderick beautiful? 😜

Deep Dive: How's this for a Wiki rabbit hole? Over the weekend I saw that it was William Jayne's 57th birthday. Credited as Billy Jacoby, Jayne played the horny little brother Buddy in the 1985 teen classic "Just One of the Guys," which was filmed near where I grew up. I learned that he was the maternal half-brother of Scott Jacoby -- whom I know as "Bad Ronald" -- so his mother used Jacoby as his surname to help ride on the family coattails. From there I found out that Scott had previously won an Emmy for his portrayal of the son of a man (Hal Holbrook) who divorces his mom (Hope Lange) and is now in a relationship with a sound engineer played by Martin Sheen in "That Certain Summer." I'd heard of it in passing, but thanks to the internet, I was finally able to watch this pioneering made-for-TV film from 1972. Considering that it was released the year before homosexuality was removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), it's quite progressive. "That Certain Summer' is uploaded a few times, but luckily Damian noticed that the clearer copy was actually missing some scenes, so we opted for a grainer (Russian!) one with Spanish subtitles(!), which added a little Latin touch to the affair. (Maybe there are others, but just make sure the "Maltese Falcon" scene is intact.)
