Feels Like Carly Simon's 'Never Been Gone'

 

Nearly 15 years after being left devastated when I didn't make the cut to get inside (Nobody Beats) The Wiz at Pentagon City Mall in Arlington, Va., for a signing of the "Clouds in My Coffee" box set, all is now right in the world after finally getting my "autograph moment" with Carly Simon, arguably my favorite singer not named Debbie Harry. 

Ever the recluse, I was shocked to see she would be appearing at J&R to sign copies of her new album -- "Never Been Gone," a collection of reworked versions of her classic songs -- so I rushed downtown early to avoid making the same mistake twice. 

While I didn't get to tell her much more than that I've loved her since I was a little boy, I think my smile shows I was over the moon nonetheless!
