In bed with Kevin Gregory; Dolly Parton is finally getting her due; the Castro Theatre receives an overhaul; and more in this week's rag 'n' mag roundup BELOW.
Boylicious: Meet the (latest) love of your life
Paper: Orville Peck is ready to take it all off (almost)
MetroWeekly: Capital Pride in pictures
GQ: Crazy to see Kevin Costner on the cover, again -- in orange, again -- 37 years after I nursed a serious crush on him (that has long since died!)
New York: Looking forward to seeing Andrew McCarthy's "Brats" doc on Hulu. Without even knowing it was coming, I happened to read his "Brat" memoir on a plane last month and was surprised by how unwilling he was to talk about any of his peers or co-stars. (How do you work with Kim Cattrall and not say anything????!!!!) Sounds like he decided to let them speak for themselves. Boy Culture attended a screening and Q&A, which you can read about HERE.
The New Yorker: To think: This seemed beyond aspirational 30 years ago

ReplyDeleteDamn I can be dense sometimes.
57!! Thought you weren't a day over 50. :) Keep it up. We must ensure we make it to the finish line in one piece.
Today's post--
Please send Keven over. I will ensure he is cleaned up, fed, and dressed. Well maybe!!
Have a great weekend.
Thanks for posting on the Castro Theater.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure. Reminds me of the Mayan Theater here in Denver. An old theater of old brought to new life. It was saved from the wrecking ball.
I have been to the Castro Theater back in the day. Can't wait to see the finished restoration.
My dad used to go to the Castro Theater as a kid back in the 1940s. The Nasser family owned the Castro back then. My dad was there when the refreshment center was installed in the theater in 1941/42. At times he got in for free due to the generosity of Mr. Nasser’s adult son who visited the Castro on occasion in his grey Cadillac.
ReplyDeleteMy dad would go to the Castro on weekends and watch movies from 6:30 in the evening til 2:00 in the morning for 25 cents !
Another great movie house was the Fox, so palatial they called it the Fox Palace.
The Fox was sadly torn down, my father is glad to see the Castro is being kept in great condition.
